Start with a 750 ml bottle of bourbon. Pour off 10 ounces. Add 8 ounces of simple syrup and 2 ounces of good quality bitters.
When you go to make the cocktail, make sure the top is tight and give the bottle a thorough shake. Pour about 3 1/2 ounces into an old-fashioned glass. Add one big ice cube and top with 1-3 Luxardo cherries along with a little of the syrup.
